Brothers…

Boys slide
It is fun to watch the interaction between all the boys.  They all have their own personalities and quirks.  Austin and Brodie, being the big brothers they are, always want to help Chase with things.  Chase, being Chase, wants to do it himself.

Why God Made Little Boys

Author Unknown

God made a world out of his dreams,
Of magic mountains, oceans and streams,
Prairies and plains and wooded land,
Then paused and thought, “I need someone to stand
On top of the mountains, to conquer the seas,
Explore the plains and climb the trees,
Someone to start out small and grow,
Sturdy, strong like a tree” and so…
He created boys, full of spirit and fun,
To explore and conquer, to romp and run,
With dirty faces, banged up chins,
With courageous hearts and boyish grins.
When He had completed the task He’d begun
He surely said, “That’s a job well done.”

I Shoot People…

So I did my first “photo shoot” yesterday. I love photography and have actually been trying to get better lately. My friend, Amanda, is about to get married in May and wanted me to do some engagement pictures for her. So, Rudy and Amanda were my guinea pigs for an hour. I am pretty pleased with the results, but of course would have done some things differently. Here are a few of the highlights:

As long as the bride is happy….

Gray Hair…

Killer Chalk

It is a good thing I color my hair…cause I am sure some of it is turning gray. This child is crazy.

But he sure is fun.

Daddy's hand

It isn’t Father’s Day.  It isn’t Jason’s birthday.  It is just a Wednesday in April.  It struck me today that I don’t tell Jason often enough how amazing he is.  He is a wonderful selfless father.  He loves all four boys fiercely.  We don’t always agree or see eye to eye on the kids, but the love is the same.  I love you, Jason.  You rock!

And no, this isn’t to make up for buying my new camera lens yesterday.

There You Are…

Chase’s language capabilities are just exploding. A lot of what he says is very funny. Whenever you give him something or do something for him he says, “There you are.” Very sweet and very nice. What he means to say is “Thank You”. It doesn’t matter how much we prompt him to say thank you he always says, “There you are.”

“Chase say thank you”

“There you are”

By the way, Mojo is his best friend.

I must be doing something right…

Conversation with Austin and Brodie in the car yesterday:

A:  “Mom are you ever going to finish college”  (referring to the fact that every other year I take a semester)

Mom: “Eventually.  Right now I am a little busy.”

B:  “Do you need to finish college so you can get a job?”

A: “Brodie, she has a job.”

B:  “Oh right.  Mom your job is hard.”

Mom: “What job is that?”

B: “Taking care of us all the time.  Cleaning up after us and cooking for us.  I love your cooking.  Your rice is good.”

Mom: “Thanks.  You just picked the one food item I made last week from a package, but thanks.”

A:  “Mom, you know what is hard about your job?”

Mom:  “What would that be?”

A: “People with other jobs get to leave their job.  You work TWENTY-FOUR HOURS A DAY (said VERY dramatic).”

Mom:  “True.  I do work more hours.  But I love my job more than anything in the world.”

B: “Your job is harder than Jason’s”

Mom:  “That will be our secret”

A:  “Thanks Mom.”

Tasty…

Evan had his first taste of cereal tonight.  I actually have never waited until 5 months start any of my kids on cereal, but Evan had been under the weather.  Being sick I figured it wasn’t the best time to try something new.  Of course, he only took a few tastes, but he seemed to like it…..kinda.  Chase thought the baby eating was HILARIOUS!  I mean…the baby doesn’t eat!!

Insane Dreams

Posted on

My dream from last night was insane. Not because of what was going on it as much as the people in it.

It started with Tiffani Thiessen selling jewelry to Susan Lucci. I have not watched anything with either of them in it in forever so I am not sure where they came from. Susan was not being very nice about Tiffani’s designs, but I thought they were gorgeous. I got tired of watching them argue so I decided to go visit a friend. The friend turned out to be Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy. I could tell that he was totally into me so I had to remind him that I was married and that he was engaged to some girl. I came home…only my home was on a beach…same house though. Jason was telling me about his day of fighting dragons. I swear. I then asked if they kids were in bed. He replied, “Yea, most of them went to bed fine, but the girls gave me trouble”. GIRLS?!?!

Then I woke up to a crying kid…

Mommy Needs a Time Out…

Posted on

It was a bit of a rough week on the mommy front.  It was partially due to kids not feeling good.  Partially due to thunderstorms that were interfering with sleep.  Partially due to hormonal levels.  Mostly it was due to my lack of patience.

All is better today.  Well, not all, but it was a much better day.  I did my best to not yell, though I did a few times. I did my best not to get frustrated, though I did a few times.  I did my best to not blame myself when things went badly, though I did a few times.  But of course that is all we can expect from ourselves….trying.
