Ten little days until I will watch my last baby turn one year old.  Ten short days and we leave behind babydom forever.  Ten days….it is killing me.

McKinney Boys…

So last night I met up with some old friends to take pictures of creatures that I know very well…boys.  Collin (the youngest in the pictures) was best friends with Austin in kindergarten.  They both are a foot taller and I meant to take a picture of them together and totally forgot.  grrr.

Here are a few samplings of the photos from last night:

I had the uber pleasure of photographing Shana and her kiddos this evening. They truly are some of my favorite people EVAH (hey, all the cool kids say it). Here is a sneak peak at some of the pictures. I couldn’t resist editing a few tonight:

Mom Uniform…

Mom Uniform

It is no doubt that Stacy and Clinton would love to have a few words with me when it comes to my daily wardrobe.  Let’s just say, I could really use a $5,000 makeover.  I would take it in a heartbeat for sure.  But, that doesn’t mean that I necessarily mind my current one.

Converse (I love both my pairs, do not bash them) and jeans have become my daily wardrobe.  When I am not going to be going anywhere, the jeans I wear are threadbare…but man are they comfortable.  Now, Let’s be realistic.  While I love cute pants, blazers, blouses, and fantastically gorgeous point toe shoes as much as any girl, I don’t see myself wearing that while chasing Chase around the backyard trying to convince him to put his underwear back on (there have been poop incidents).  I can’t see myself cleaning my kitchen and spilling last night’s dinner on my $300 dry clean only blouse.  I spend a great deal of my time getting people out of things, off of things, and cleaning up after four kids and four animals.  This doesn’t scream COUTURE TIME to me.

That being said, there are times when I am passing by my bathroom mirror, carrying my 5th load of laundry for the day, and I see just how relaxed I can be.  It isn’t pretty folks.  The truth is, looking good makes you feel good.  So I will get up a little earlier before the boys, brush my teeth, put on some makeup and make myself look a little better.

But the Converse stay…

For Many Reasons This Photo Scares Me…

October 20, 2008 at 3:48 pm | In Crazy Woman with ALLLLL those kids, Family, Kids, Photography | 1 Comment

Austin Pumpkin

The main reason is that Austin looks so much like my brother in this picture.  The first time I held Austin after he was born the FIRST thing out of my mouth was, “He looks like Lyndon.”  It was inevitable that my first born would remind me so much with just a glance of the one person in the world that can make me madder than a hornet but also make me laugh so hard I pee.  And he does.

The other reason this picture scares me is because THIS is a picture of that same child a mere two years ago around Pumpkin time:

When did he get so BIG?

Don’t even get me started on his brother there.  It is more than I can take.

1877 5x7 crop color correct

Well I accomplished my goal of being able to shoot all my shots in Manual mode by October.  WOOHOO ME!!!  Now, there are situations when I still use Program, Aperture and Shutter Priority modes.  But, I am CAPABLE of shooting all manual.  YAY ME!!

By the way, the picture is of a girl I did headshots for.  She is competing in Miss Teen Texas.  I hope I get to shoot more of her….she was so easy to work with!

Sometimes it pays to know how to edit a picture….

Before and After

I do not like when photographers make major changes in Photoshop and try to pass that off as photography.  However, learning how to do level adjustments, color balance and some curves sure can make or break a photo.
