About LaShawn
My name is LaShawn. I am a 28 year old Texan. That basically means, I am a loud mouth with an over inflated view of my state. I do NOT, however, endorse big hair. We younger Texans are trying to give that stereotype away to Oklahoma. While I identify myself as a Texan I haven’t lived here my whole life. I started my life in Texas and then around the 5th grade my family moved. I did my “growing up” in Las Vegas. Yes, THAT Las Vegas. No, it wasn’t weird. No, I didn’t live in a casino. No, I don’t know Sigfried and Roy (My dad has been to their house, but that is another story). After I graduated high school my parents moved back to Texas and I followed them, like any good daughter does.
My husband’s name is Jason. When people first meet him they immediately think he is quiet. Which he is around people he doesn’t know. Around me? He never shuts up. And I like it that way. He is super caring and wickedly funny. He is also one heck of a dad. Together we have four boys. Yes…all boys. No we aren’t going to keep trying for a girl. That would mean we were trying for one in the first place. Our boys are talked about a lot around here…they are: Austin, Brodie, Chase and Evan. Yes, we realize we screwed up the pattern.
Other interesting random things about me:
I have two dogs that are probably gay and two cats that embody all that is evil. I am a stay at home mom. I have not eaten a bon bon, however, since high school. I make up words quite often. My husband thinks that I should publish my own dictionary to save him from the confusion. I love to cook and I am pretty good at that. I hate laundry with a passion that only mass murders usually possess. With four kids I have a lot of the dreaded laundry to do too. I always put my right shoe on first. I am hopelessly addicted to the Internet. I do text message, but would rather just pick up the phone and call the person. I am highly opinionated, but I try to not step on too many toes. I think political correctness has ruined America. I have anxiety attacks when I am running late. Being on time is late in my book. This annoys just about everyone around me. I love Starbucks and realize that it is ridiculous to pay that much for coffee, but don’t really care.
My passion outside of my family is photography

You are fascinating. Nice pictures ! What kind of camera do you use ??? Yeah, it’s not the camera is it ? It’s the fact that you have a good eye, and a passion for photography. Keep studying and your craft will progress. rule no. 1 = rtfm. rule no. 2= KISS. rule no. 3 = forget the rules.

Wow, all boys, huh? I’m on my way to having four boys myself, but I’m pretty happy to have some girls in there, too. When you were younger did you ever expect you’d be a mom of all boys? I was raised in a very female-oriented family (single mom + matriarchal grandmother) so it was kind of a culture shock for me when I had one girl and then three boys in a row. But fun, too! Boys can be really awesome!
BTW, you are completely wrong about being bad at photography. I think your photos are pretty great!

“I did my “growing up” in Las Vegas. Yes, THAT Las Vegas. …No, I didn’t live in a casino.” – lol. i’ve always wondered what it would be like to live in LV, now i know it probably wouldn’t have been so weird after all..

Your whole family (incl. mom/dad/bro) are just too cute to shoot! All boys. GOD BLESS YOU. You need it.
Totally agree about the PC-ness mess. Amongst other things *coughobamacough*

Hello LaShawn, I came across your website while searching other photographers. I just recently started photography myself and was curious who you use to develop your prints & if you create your own Christmas Cards or is that a printing company that does it for you.

That’s great! I love your story. I have three boys and a girl but we were actually trying for four boys. NOT that I don’t love my little girl but I’ve always though I was better as a boys’ mom! People say now “you finally got your girl?” NO I stopped BECAUSE I got a girl! Hehe! I adore her though
